Brendan Fraser in GI Joe Movie

-Mummy series actor Brendan Fraser has confirmed that he’ll be taking on a role in the upcoming GI JOE film, bringing the films casting expenditures to just under $12 billion. Fraser will be handling the role of Gung-Ho, a former Marine who joined the Joe team. Hopefully they’re abandoning the original Gung-Ho.
What, you say? Well you see, Gung-Ho was from Louisiana and he was a cajun and had an accent. I do not want Brendan Fraser trying to do that accent. So he should just be some other Marine, rather than butchering his way through some faux-French.
GI JOE hits theaters on August 7th, 2009, and will follow the adventures of an international action team fighting against the evil terrorist group known as COBRA, as well as butting heads with Scottish arms dealer Destro.
See, that title is a play on words. Because it could either mean he’s not Gung-ho-excited for the film or he’s not Gung-Ho the character. But after sitting at a table with The Slayer of Mummies himself, I can explicitly relay to you all that Brendan Fraser is not not not not playing Gung-Ho in the upcoming Stephen Sommers incarnation of GI Joe. He was kind enough to spell that out, despite what “geek sites” may be saying. Tee-hee!
At a press junket for Inkheart, Fraser took a few seconds to express his bewilderment at constantly being questioned about GI Joe, despite only having a cameo. And that is what it will be folks: a cameo. Fraser said he was only on set for one day and only put in about an hour’s worth of work for his buddy, Stephen Sommers.
What role will he play? Well, probably an unnamed character. It sort of seemed as though Fraser had some input into the character, as he stated he tried to make him similar to Rick O’Connell, his role made famous in The Mummy franchise. He mentioned that he’ll be wearing some camo and/or gear, load up with some guns, and get a cool motorcycle. But that’s that. Don’t expect much more than a few moments of on screen glory from Fraser, though hopefully it’ll be cool. Oh, and one other thing. Fraser described Gung-Ho as a walking sight gag (true) and like someone who just missed out on making the Village People (also true). Sorry, Gung-Ho fans, all six of you, but he’s not making the draft this year.
What are your thoughts on this news? Disappointed? Still afraid of GI Joe?

EL MAYIMBE AQUI!YET ANOTHER LATINO REVIEW EXCLUSIVE!I have just learned through my sources that BRENDAN FRASER has booked the role of GUNG HO for Stephen Sommer’s big screen live-action adaptation of "G.I. Joe." Now, it is only a one scene cameo. The scene is question is a training sequence at THE PIT. Brendan already shot his part. Me personally, I always thought GUNG HO was the most gay looking of the Joes. I mean come on, the tattooed chest, the vest with no shirt on and that hat?! If there was a soldier in the VILLAGE PEOPLE, GUNG HO would definitely be it!
I also learned that AN OFFER has been made to THE ROCK for the role of HECTOR DELGADO aka SHIPWRECK. At this time THE ROCK hasn’t said either yes or no, but the offer is out to him. Can THE ROCK smell what Shipwreck is cooking? We should find out soon enough. I knew it was only a matter of time before they would start offering Latino roles to THE ROCK who is Samoan.
